Becoming a Member at Excell Baptist Church

Why Membership Matters

Being a member is your way of saying, "I’m committed to Excell Baptist Church.” In turn, membership allows our church leaders to express their commitment to lead you, love you, and look after you as ones who will have to give an account to God for their leadership (Heb. 13:17).

When we commit ourselves to one another in this way, membership isn't meaningless—it really matters. Church membership is a biblical expression of commitment where believers publicly identify as part of Christ's body in a specific local community. When you become a member at Excell, you:

  • Proclaim your unity with fellow believers in Christ.

  • Commit to a gospel partnership that advances God's kingdom.

  • Place yourself under the spiritual care of our church leadership.
  • Enter a covenant relationship where we mutually support, encourage, and hold one another accountable.
  • Strengthen the testimony of Christ in our community through our collective witness.

Our Membership Process

  1. The first step in becoming a member at Excell is to complete our church membership form (see below).
  2. Join our quarterly "Membership Matters" class where you'll learn about our church's history, vision, doctrine, ministries, and expectations for members.
  3. Meet with our pastor for a personal conversation about your relationship with Christ, your understanding of the gospel, and your desire to covenant with our church family.
  4. Be welcomed into membership during a Sunday service, where the congregation will affirm their commitment to you and you to them.
